Eastern Sierra Camping/Hike

This Labor Day my wife, kids and I went camping at Twin Lakes in the Eastern Sierras.  I was fortunate enough to escape a couple mornings for sunrise hikes.  The first morning I woke up at about 5 am and hiked 4 miles in the dark to Barney Lake.  The hike wasn’t bad…no bears.  However, I did come across one set of beady eyes staring back at me from the bushes.  It was a little freaky, but I had my big chocolate lab to keep me safe!  The second morning I woke up a little after 5 am, hiked 2.5 miles and watched the first rays of light hit the Matterhorn Peak.  The Eastern Sierras are such an amazing place.  There is so much to see and photograph.  I can’t wait till I get to go back…hopefully photograph some fall colors!
